Panerai PAM 718 Review

Panerai watches were initially developed for the Italian Navy so it is obviously the ultimate tool watch.

For this historic reasons Panerai watches are usually very big and thick that might make it not so suitable for business or with a suit.

Yet the PAM 718 is a very limited (50 pieces) Panerai that never made it to the official web site and was almost immediately sold out.

At 42mm in white gold it is not your usual panerai

It uses the famous "California dial" that war originally patented by Rolex and used in the first Panerai that were indeed built by Rolex for them.

The size (42mm) and relatively slim case it makes it well suited for a business setting.

This is also the ultimate understated watch that will attract not special attention: there is no panerai logo on the dial so who doesn't know..will not know.

The dial is black with cream indexes and blued hands.

It has a really unique look and feel and the heft of white gold makes it again very exclusive.

The watch is powered by the in-house P1000 movement, developed entirely by Panerai and with a 3 days power reserve.

Legibility at the dark is excellent and typical panerai!

I think this watch is a bit of a contradiction: a tool watch transformed into an elegant 42mm white gold watch. Not so usual or consistent with panerai but happy to have this watch in my collection as it is certainly discrete yet rare and unique.
